This past Saturday, the Brock Lady Eagle B teams traveled to Boyd to play in the Boyd B team tournament.
In the first game, the 7th grade B team face the A team of Boyd. The Lady eagles matched the yellow jackets point for point until Mamie Cate Haydon approached the service line. Mamie went on to serve 9 straight points to make the score 17-7. The Lady eagles dominated the floor for the rest of the game winning 25-17. Faith Earle and Kourtney Lowther had strong showings at the net, while Peyton Wakefield also had a strong night at the service line.
In the second match, Allison Gissiner found her groove at the service line as she served up 5 big points to try and keep the game close. Brooke Lucia and Bailey Kennedy had a strong passing night, but the lady eagles fell behind losing 19-25 and sending the game to the third match.
Game 3 found the Lady eagles behind 11-13 until Hali Tate came up to serve. Hali served 4 straight points including the winning point to clinch the win 15-13. The win sent the Lady Eagles to the championship game.
In the championship game the Lady eagles faced the Wildcats from Godley.
The Lady Eagles found themselves down early when Mamie Haydon once again came up to serve. Mamie served 4 points giving Brock the lead. The lead see sawed back and forth until Peyton Wakefield went on a 9 point serving frenzy putting Brock back on top with a 21-12 lead. Godley didn't go quietly as they battled their way back to make it close. Allison Gissiner would sub into the game and serve out the win. Also contributing to the 25-16 win were Melanie Dehnisch and Hali Tate.
In the second match, the Lady Eagles found themselves in a battle as the lead changed hands several times. The score was tied 17-17 when Logan Prater stepped in to serve. Logan served up 4 great serves to give the Lady Eagles the lead 21-17. Brock never looked back as Lindsey Urbina served out the game giving the Lady Eagles the win and the championship title. Kennedy McCullough, Maddie Boudereaux, and Cooper Davis continue to make huge improvements and contributions to the team. Cierra Thurman and Kimland Adams made several key passes. The Lady Eagles played their best volleyball of the season. They will continue to work hard and battle as they will defend their home court against the Millsap Bulldogs tonight starting at 4:00.
The 8th grade B team competed at the Boyd tournament this weekend. They fell the first round to Boyd’s A team. Showing great heart and competing well. We won the first game 25-18. Losing the next two 25-11, 15-7. We lost game 2 to Bridgeport, 25-23 and 25-17.
Several girls stood out showing much improvement. Hollie Green had 3 kills while Meghan Butler had several crucial plays at the net, blocking their hitters. Payge Eddlemon, Paige Martinez, Kambria McDougal and Marioh Mallory made several great hustle plays to keep the Lady Eagles in the game. Jessica Marcus and Alex Grimm had another great serving game, while Britney Peacock played well as libero.
The Lady Eagles will play Millsap tonight at home. See you at the game.
