I taught 2nd grade students in Granbury for 15 years before taking some time away from the classroom. I taught on three different campuses during that time. My first two years were at Baccus Elementary, and the next two years I taught at Granbury Elementary. When this campus closed, we moved to Mambrino School where I taught eleven years. I enjoyed every year of my teaching career. This will be my 3rd year to teach reading 5th grade students at Brock Elementary. I'm excited to add teaching the Social Studies curriculum to my responsibilities. Each year offers opportunities for a new adventure, which allows me a chance to grow tremendously as an educator.

Hello! My name is Melissa Brawner and this will be my third year to teach at Brock Elementary. I look forward to another wonderful year of teaching 5th grade students in reading, writing and social studies. I am very passionate about facilitating growth in my students reading comprehension and writing skills. We will re-focus our efforts in the Reading Renaissance program (aka AR) this year. I expect to see reading levels soar as students strive to meet their individualized goals.

My husband, Brian, and I have been married for 25 years. We have two children - Matt, who is a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin, and Ashley who will be a sophomore at Brock High School. We live in Granbury and have commuted the 35 miles to Brock each day for the past six years. My family LOVES football and basketball!! Good thing we are in Brock.

In my spare time, I . . . what am I talking about?? I don't really have any spare time. We are on the road traveling to Austin for Longhorn football games in the Fall, and the rest of the year we will be on the road watching Ashley play basketball or run cross country! So much fun!! Hook 'em Horns!! and Go EAGLES!!!
